My Brother

Ok, Gary just cracks me up sometimes, I sure love my borther! So here are a couple of conversations I had with him! I called him last week after I saw Pres Obama because everyone knows how he is a big Obama supporter. Anyway, here is that conversation:

Diane: Gary! Guess who I saw today?? (I was very excited to tell him!)
Gary: President Obama
Diane: (not so excited now) Yes. Did you know he was coming to Phoenix?
Gary: No. So, who's your Governor now?

Then, yesterday I found out that over the weekend he met Sarah Palin at church so I wanted to find out more about it! So, today at lunch I called him and this is how the beginning of that conversation went:

Stranger answers: Hello? (it was someone from Reach)
Me: Hi, is Gary there?
Stranger: Yes, just a minute
Stranger to Gary: Gary it's for you
Gary to Stranger: Who is it?
Stranger to me: Uh, he wants to know who it is.
Me: His sister
Stranger to Gary: It's your sister. No, it isn't her (at this point I think Gary asked if it was Sherrie).
Stranger to me: Uh, he wants to know which one.
Me: DIANE

Then Gary FINALLY comes to the phone! You would think I was trying to talk to the President! But it did make me laugh that he wanted to know which sister before he decided if he would take my call. I guess I passed the test! I wonder what he would have said if it was Paula?

Isn't he the best?

President's Day

So yesterday might have been President's Day for everyone else but today was President's Day for me! Why you might ask? Well because I saw the President of the United States arriving on Air Force One! How did that happen you ask? Well, as you all know I flew back to Phoenix today and Mica came to pick me up and apologized for being a little late because she was stopped by police to have her car searched and also sniffed with a police dog because of President Obama arriving today. I had no idea he was coming to Phoenix, in fact I saw on the news at the SLC airport that he was in Denver. So anyway as we were leaving we decided to stop in the Park & Wait lot which is right across the street from the Executive terminal and there was all kinds of news vans parked there are police all over the place. Anyway, I was talking to my new friend Jed and asked him if he knew when he was arriving. Turns out Jed is a pilot and he had all kinds of info for us. Obama was supposed to arrive at 4:20pm only they weren't restricting airspace until 5:01pm and they restrict it 30 mins before arrival. How did he know this? Well his friend over in the next car is also a pilot and he had a radio and could hear the control tower! So we decided to stick around and see what happens. So about 4:45pm our friend Jed said the tower just heard from Air Force One and they were within range at 8,000 feet. So we got out of the car and went over to the fence just in time to watch it taxi to the Executive terminal. Then after a few minutes the door opened and a few minutes later President Obama came out and waved and went down the steps to his waiting limo. Then about 10 mins later his motorcade left and they drove right past us! Luckily I had my camera and captured a few pictures and video. But the bad thing, as I was waiting for him to come off the plane my camera went into sleep mode and I didn't get a picture of him deplaning! Still pretty exciting!

Here it is parked.

Will You Still Visit Me?

Dear Snedakers (you know who you are)-
I'm afraid I have some bad news to break to you. Are you sitting down? Are you sure? Well, I might as well just say it, kind of like just ripping off the band-aid, no point to doing it slowly. So here is goes....
I have canceled my cable! You heard right, this isn't an April Fool's joke or anything. Well let me clarify by saying I have canceled my expanded cable. I still have a limited number of channels but nothing the likes that you have all grown accustomed to expect, and yes this does mean I no longer have Animal Planet. Why you might ask have I done this horrible thing? Well, now that I'm in school, I'm never home to watch it and why pay for something I'm not watching. I do understand that my cable made it a big selling point for visitors, so will you still visit me without cable? (Please see poll on the side).
